After an awesome almost-a-month since Lisa got here, it’s finally her last night in Singapore. So, despite really bad schedules on both our ends, I gatecrashed their farewell dinner at Mr Prata, Clementi =p

And that was what I had for dinner. A yummy, yummy cheese and mushroom prata =) I really wonder why I don’t have prata more often. It’s so yummy! Oh wait. I remember now. Cos it’s uber fattening that’s why! Any more than my once in a blue moon prata session, and I’m guarenteed to be a bigger fat ass that I already am. *pout* I hate that food that taste the best, is always the worst for us.

But I digress. My best friend is going back home, 1/2 way across the world.

And yet, I refuse to be sad. Honestly, we talk just as often even when she’s not in town. We’re on MSN pretty regularly, so I feel like I have her with me enough. What I will miss is being able to hang out with her in person – just being able to catch up at kopi tiams, or to go shopping for shoes, or go out dancing.

Until the next time we see each other, I’ll hold on to the good times =)

So we – Lisa, Marie and I managed to wake up relatively early, despite our late night the night before, when we went to St James, then Zouk, after Esther’s wedding dinner. I get tired, just reading that =p

The reason for us dragging our sleepy butts out of bed? Shopping! You see, despite being arriving in Singapore almost a month ago, the girls had yet to do any serious shopping. And time was running out! So I did what any best friend would do. I took them to Far East for some hard core, and read, not-gonna-break-the-bank kinda shopping!

To be honest, I can’t remember when was the last time I bought anything from Far East. But Lisa needed shoes – flats in particular, and even I know Far East has TONS of shoes. So both of them bought shoes (multiple pairs!), and even more clothes! Even I got on the action, and picked up a white blazer =)

It was while when taking a quick break, when I had the craving for Ya Kun that I found out that Lisa had NEVER tried Ya Kun before! Needless to say, I made sure to rectify that problem =p And I’m glad to report that she enjoyed her Ya Kun. I do love a good Ya Kun toast and the sweet sweet teh =)

I packed the lovely ladies off back for dinner with their family, whilst I continued to do a litle more shopping at Paragon. Not for myself this time, but for M. He’s not much of a shopper, not when it doesn’t concern 1) cameras 2) lens or 3) compute games, so it was left to me to pick up a couple of knick knacks that he needed =p

I ended up at Muji, cos it’s just such a cool place to pick up clean and functional things. Seriously, Muji is the best place to pick up random things. And everything is clean and nice, without funky disturbing designs/ prints etc, which drive me mad sometimes. They should have a sign that reads “wander in at own risk to wallet”. The Japanese are second to no one when it comes to packaging!

All in all, an extremely fruitful shopping day! I really do like spending other people’s money! *evil grin*

Tigger to my Pooh, Shu was the awesome girlfriend who was my partner in class, and my partner-in-crime out of class. Oh how much time we spent writing letters to each other, and drawing (Shu) and colouring (me), and doing detention after school with Mr How! =p

One of the sweetest girl I know got married. Evidence of that would be that 2 people flew back to Singapore to attend her wedding. One of whom, flew 1/2 way across the world to be here. That’s how much we love Esther. And needless to say, she was a gorgeous bride!

It’s almost scary how fast time has flown by, that we’re no longer giggly school girls, but young women? I’m just happy that we’re still friends, despite the years, and that we were all able to be present to share in Esther’s happiest day.

Congratulations babe!!!

We rounded up Meiting’s and my birthday celebrations by having dinner at Jumbo Seafood at Dempsey. I wanted to have crab, and Pamela suggested the venue. I got there late, so I don’t know who ordered. But whoever did, ordered well! The crabs were soooooo yummy! Especially with the little man tous =) I do like me my crabs!

I don’t know what it is about my birthday, but all of a sudden, I’m turned into a pig. Well, I mean I’m a pig most days, but going out to celebrate birthdays is like having a a WILD card to eat, eat and eat! And really, I’m not even all that much of a foodie to begin with =p

We headed over to House @ Dempsey for some drinks and dessert after. It was nice to chill out, and just catch up with the girls over some quiet. After all, with all our busy lives and schedules, it’ll be close to Christmas before we’ll meet up again.

And just like that, we round up another year of birthdays!

One of the best things I love about Pamela is how she’s game for anything. No airs, no fuss. And so we end up doing the silliest and most fun things together.

We’d just decided to grab a last minute dinner since neither of us had any plans. On our way to get food, we caught whiff of durians. Boy, did they smell good! And hence throughout dinner, I kept trying to convince Pamela that we should go get some durians, and sit around to have them on the spot!

I admit, I knew I had an easy target. What with Pamela not having eaten any durians this season yet, I knew she was majorly CRAVING for some. Plus, I also know that Pamela has a soft spot for me… So I wheedled, and went on and on about durians, until she caved *evil grin*

So off we went! I was excited at the prospect of having some durians – they smelt so good when we walked past the durian vendor! I couldn’t wait to get my greedy, grubby little hands on some!

Pamela worked her magic on the uncle selling durians, and he helped us pick out some “good” ones. We paid $20 for 3 rather small lookin durians, which somehow housed lots of durian seeds in their little husks, and we went to settle ourselves comfortably at some common area seats.

HMMMMMMM. Just thinking about how good the durians taste, makes me want some now! Needless to say, we each polished off quite a couple of seeds, before we split the rest of the durians for the folks at home. I know Mommy definitely appreciated the durian. Mandy, not so much =p

I do like me some good durians. But having someone to enjoy them with me on a whim, what more can a girl ask for?

I turn 27 today =)

Mommy and Mei Mei took me out for Japanese, and we headed back for the most important aspect of any birthday in my opinion. CAKE! Well, cake, and making wishes. But mostly the CAKE =p

And what a pretty cake Mommy bought me this year! Feeling loved, very loved =)

Xin, who’s the dearest girl, asked Ming and I how we would like to celebrate our birthdays. I took advantage that Ming was busy, and told Xin that I wanted to do a BBQ. Cos I LOVE BBQs! Well, actually, I love eating BBQ-ed food. Not so much the actual process of barbequing =p

So yeah! We decided to have a BBQ at Xin’s place. And the theme, after some changes, (it was orginally supposed to be kinky PJs – don’t ask =p) was PINK. Both Ming and I adore pink, so we decided to go with a colour theme instead.

After some serious last minute scrambling (and quite a fair bit of pent up frustration, I’d admit), I managed to sort things out, and get everyone together for dinner and post drinks, to give Esther a proper hen night that she deserved.

I’d found out from Edna that Esther likes Japanese, so I decided on Sun with Moon @ The Central, since it has never let me down. They always have good food and ambience =) We made sure to feed the bride-to-be well, and waited till after dinner to reveal her costume to her.

Crafty Edna managed to sneak out dresses and shoes from her sister’s wardrobe to match the devil accessories that I’d gotten Mei Mei to buy. I was quite pleased with the ensemble. What with her pretty face and killer bod, Esther made quite the perfect “she-devil” with her red devil horns and trident, strolling down Clarke Quay.

Alcohol, games and laughter always make for a memorable and fun evening. And since we are all under strict orders not to share any photos and videos (yes, videos! *evil grin*), I only hope that the bride-to-be had as much fun as I did! =)

After hearing G’s recommendation of Ah Loy Thai, I’d started to want some jolly good Thai food. Since the days of having authentic Thai food just next door at Orchard Towers are long gone, I suggested that we try out Ah Loy Thai for Janice’s and Pamela’s birthday celebrations.

Tucked away in a nook of Shaw Towers, Ah Loy Thai wouldn’t normally be a venue we would check out for a birthday celebration. But as we are all easy going eaters, everyone headed there with no fuss. Taking G’s advice, I made sure to make reservations, so we didn’t have to wait despite the crowd.

After putting in our orders during “last orders”,  the good food had us polishing up their fried rice, tom yam soup, and tofu something =) A hearty meal no doubt, but I highly doubt I would ever head all the way to Shaw Towers again, when Orchard Towers is so much more accessible for me. Still, the fried rice was truly yums! Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try the funky chicken that I saw. Wrapped in some sort of leave, I think that would have been good too =p

We headed to Chijmes after dinner, but not before we had a massive laugh session. For when I had asked which direction Chijmes was at, ALL four of them promptly pointed at FOUR different directions! We had to catch our breaths, after our “ditzy-girls-have-no-sense-of-direction” moment, and walked over to Chijmes. Don’t worry. Once we got our airhead moment sorted out, we knew exactly how to get to our destination =p

Quickly settling down, we ordered a round of shots and a bottle of white. If only we didn’t have work the next day…
